The RIGA FASHION WEEK contributes to the development of sustainable fashion in Latvia

For several seasons now, the organizers of RIGA FASHION WEEK have been announcing an eco-agenda as one of their key themes. This is not coincidental – with each passing year, the sustainable fashion market is developing more rapidly. Within the framework of the 38th RFW, not only will designers showcase collections made from ecological materials, but partners will also participate in discussions and seminars on the topic of conscious consumption.

On the first day of the Fashion Week a seminar and panel discussion on the topic "Responsible Fashion Today" will be held in collaboration with Stockmann at the Forum Cinemas theatre (13 January Street 8). Latvian and international industry experts will participate in it. The main topics of the events are: transitioning from the concept of fast fashion to slow fashion, the impact of each of our purchases on the future of the industry, and the peculiarities of fashion collection production. The seminar is open to anyone interested upon prior registration by link.

Following this, there will be a presentation and cocktail reception for media and influencers, during which key partners of RFW will share their experiences in implementing conscious initiatives in other industries.

"Choosing an electric vehicle today is a step towards a 'green' future. GWM ORA symbolises how ecological sustainability and elegant design can go hand in hand, which also reflects the values of RFW," says Linda Ung, Marketing Manager of GWM ORA in the Northern region. "As the official automotive partner of the Riga Fashion Week, we are pleased to embody the key values of the global automotive manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM), which has long been at the forefront of technology and the development of environmentally friendly transportation solutions."

In turn, the shows of debutants of the current season from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia will take place in a new venue - the most "green" office complex in Riga, "Verde."

"For us, cooperation with Riga Fashion Week is, first of all, an opportunity to support young designers motivated to create collections of sustainable fashion, which resonates with our values. Secondly, it's a wonderful occasion to demonstrate the versatility of spaces within our office complex, which transforms into a venue for hosting large-scale events," comments Iveta Lace, Commercial Director and Member of the Board of "Verde."

It's worth noting that "Verde" is officially the greenest complex in Riga. This is evidenced by both its exterior ecosystem: landscaped grounds, parking with charging stations for electric vehicles, two terraces with vegetation covering an area of 600 square metres each, and its interior: the presence of beehives, a well-established waste sorting system, as well as efficient consumption of water and electricity resources.

Just a reminder, this season RIGA FASHION WEEK will take place from April 8th to 11th.

The main partners of RFW are the department store Stockmann Riga and the new electric car GWM Ora 03.
